Supply Chain Professional.
Our client, a major mining concern based in Central Africa would like to consider applications from supply chain professionals for their operations. This is a fly-in-fly-out contract single status position.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
• A tertiary qualification (specific degree) in supply chain management
• At least 10 years mining experience at a senior level within supply chain management within in one of the following disciplines: Supply Management; Materials Management & Logistics/Distribution
• Fluency in English, and French will be a distinct advantage.
• Mining experience essential, previous experience in an African country and familiar with specific challenges and opportunities
• Daily Systems use of an reputable ERP system and other computer packages
• Knowledge of Sage X3 system beneficial
• Management experience in an industry with high stock velocities, with extended lead-times through multiple warehousing facilities
THE ROLE:
• Direct the process which includes the planning of procurement, production, inventory control, logistics and distribution. He/she will ensure that every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities.
• Will communicate operational requirements and objectives to line managers and key personnel in procurement, development/manufacturing, logistics and distribution.
• Continuously examine processes and systems within the supply chain of the organization in order to ensure on time and cost effective delivery of services. He/she will develop and implement such policies and processes to ensure an efficient, cost effective and professional service to all internal stakeholders.
• Manage the relationships between many different vendors and information technology systems. Internal and external relationship building in this role is important in maintaining a high level of service and quality.
• Train, develop, mentor and assist his subordinates in all of the departments that fall within the supply chain process. He/she will furthermore ensure that the various components of the team function effectively. Constant process and employee review will be required to ensure that the process stays cost effective. Supply chain management is an intense, process-oriented career.
• Focus on making the processes of procurement, development, logistics and distribution as cost effective as possible. He/she will continually evaluate systems processes and policies in order to produce better techniques, cheaper materials and faster processes.
THE SUPPLY CHAIN PROFESSIONAL WILL:
• Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success.
• Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
• Confer with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
• Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
• Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance.
